The village of Barovia is how the group first met the land of Barovia, though they only stopped briefly for a poop break before heading onward to the Vistani encampment.
The village has recently had a changing of the guard, with Ismark Kolyanovich having recently assumed the post of burgomaster with the death of his father. He is the man who asked the party to help protect his adopted-sister, Ireena Kolyana, whom for some reason Strahd has taken an interest in.
The village is miserable, and sparsely populated. Soup available at the inn was essentially boiled root, perhaps with gamey wolf meat if there happened to be any, and the wine was stale. No one in town willingly made eye contact, and the most-animated person encountered-Father Donavich-turned out to be keeping his cursed son starving and hostage inside an underground cellar.
The nicest house in town turned to decay once the party laid to rest the spirits within.
A metropolis by comparison to the town of Barovia, Vallaki is the center of Barovia, both in population and location.
The group had an interesting initial visit to this town, observing a small squabble between the town guards and a free-man / barbarian-looking fellow, named Vwulfgar (with a silent-V).
Krezk lies to the far west in the valley of Barovia, on top of a hill and just south of the Abbey of St. Markovia. So far, the party has only seen the village from outside of its walls, but Davian has told them a little of the burgomaster there.
